چکیده

Ketamine is a rapid acting parentrally administered non barbiturate anaesthetic agent with minimum cardio respiratory depressant effect as compared to others (Paul et al 1982). It is in clinical use for more than ten years and used safely in aged and critically ill patients (Lorhan & Limppman 1971, Barson and Aren 1974). In sub-anaesthetic doses it has been safely used to produce obstetrical analgesia (Janeczko et al 1974). But the unpremedicated patients experience a dream like state. Since, it can be administered intramuscularly and is safer than thiopentone, we thought of using Ketamine as an alternative to thiopentone for narcoanalysis. We report in this paper our findings of abreaction effect of Ketamine on two cases.

Ketamine Abreaction : a New Approach to Narcoanalysis

Ketamine is a parenterally administered non barbiturate anaesthetic agent, in use for more than a decade. It is a safer than Na Pentothal. Administered intramuscularly, in dose of 6 to 15 mgm/Kg body wt. it produces dissociative anaesthesia. But, in smaller sub anaesthetic doses it may act as an abreactant. We report in this study the abreaction effect of Ketamine in dose of .5 to 1.5 mgm/kg bo...

Autogenic Abreaction and Psychoanalysis

Autogenic abreaction and psychoanalytic therapy have at their very root a common concept: the pathogenicity of disturbing mental recordings. Although it is impossible in a short paper to review the fields of psychoanalysis and autogenic abreaction, I will try to elabor...

Case Reports Showing a Long-Term Effect of Subanesthetic Ketamine Infusion in Reducing l-DOPA-Induced Dyskinesias

Ketamine is an FDA-approved drug with a known safety profile. Low-dose subanesthetic intravenous ketamine infusion treatment has led to long-term reduction of treatment-resistant depression and of chronic pain states. We report on low-dose subanesthetic intravenous ketamine infusion treatment in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients by 5 case studies and show a long-lasting therapeutic benefit to r...
